From the first day of the first mash of the first recipe in the first brewhouse in the first space to this oasis 13 years on the road; We have worked hard to walk in the footsteps of our hero brewers- The Noble Brewer of the planet’s only legal Steam Beer, and Oregon’s Rebel Brewer from Newport. Thirteen years down the road, we have found our own voice as brewers but our admiration for the Great Ones has not dimmed one bit. If we walked well down the hero’s path ourselves, perhaps we too have been an inspiration for others. Beer is a Bronze Age business and we feel honored to have left our footprints on it’s path into history, at the same time leaving our flavors on your buds. Thanks for your trust over the years and we hope you enjoy this specialty brewed Hi-Gravity Auburn offering.

22oz bomber pours clear copper with thick gold edges and nice tan looking head of foam. The aroma offers up some caramel malts, some toffee and a touch of citrus amid molasses covered biscuit malts. The taste has sort of a caramel malt, sweet malt, biscuit malt, melanoidin malts and a modest level of earthy to lime peel like hops. Interesting. The lime like notes grow right into the finish and pick up a bit of sweet fruity esters. Neat brew.

Medium sized white head with good retention and lace. Clear copper colored brew.Nose of caramel and grainy malts with a light citrus note. Body is med/full, lil chewy and oily, gentle carbonation. Grainy mlat flavors, lightly sweet with a non balance of citrusy hops and maybe some pine. More earthy, leafy flavors with a touch of fruitiness. fairly typical Laggy brew. Drinkable but not enough hops in this one, malt dominates. Still drinkable. Bomber from statelineliquors.

Bottle: Poured a copper color with a finger off white carbonated head. Aroma was strong leafy malt and hops. Nice strong hops forward that subsides to leave a balanced malt and dry tongue finish.

Gotta do this one from my memory, had it a while back and just realized i hadnt entered it. So.... Toasty sweet caramel and brown sugar, clean smelling citrus hops, really nice balance with a big malt forward presence. Flavors of malts, with a thick sweetness, fair amount of pine and grapefruit hops. Not too syrupy but just a little. Finishes with a muted sweetness and a slow burried hop bitterness.

Sampled on 5/10/2012. This American Strong Ale pours a medium orange gold color from a 22oz bottle. Medium to large sized white foamy head with good retention and nice lacing. The aroma is fruity and sweet, with a load of citrusy, floral and piney hops. A medium bodied American Strong Ale. The malts are fruity and sweet, orange and orange peel. The hops are citrusy, floral and piney. Good carbonation. Big hoppy beer, with some nice malts and a lingering hop bitterness. Some residual sweetness as well. Nice beer. I wonder what this was like fresh as this bottle has been in my fridge for a while now. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is bitter with a touch of sweetness and a little alcohol.

Pours clear orange with low to no head but plenty of lacing. Aroma is hoppy. Mouth is sticky sweet. Flavor is spicy, sweet, with a bit of hop bite. All in all nice.

You would think that this would be weaker being a small beer and all, but pretty much the same strength as the regular Lucky 13. I found this to have a cleaner taste and thinner/smoother mouthfeel. With that being said, I felt there is more flavor (both malty and hoppy) in the regular recipe. This one also seemed a bit more pale in the appearance. Still a great beer, but thinking I may prefer the non-alt.

Nice honey brown body complete with a good 1” fluffy cap. Looks like it will be a tasty one. Normal west coast hop aroma you know the one, peach, leather, caramel, lemon. Epically stick lacing. Nice bitter flavor, very peach with a good balance of sweetness. Earth, caramel, leather, more stuff. Great drinking brew, easy to slam and yum. The 8.3% is hidden completely and could probably get you in trouble if your nat paying attention. Yum. So in conclusion peach, leather, hops, better, sweet, YUM!!

22oz bottle -
Whatta great beer. EVERYTHING you want in a beer like this. Nothing small at all about this. Big hoppy aroma, catty and citrussy. It really was like smelling fresh peeled tangerines. Flavor is just an intense experience of malts and hops. Cotton candy sweet malts, woody, citrussy hops. Alcohol, more hops, more malts. Pretty obscene and not for the weak of heart. I enjoyed the original Lucky 13 so much, this was a great surprise. Loved it. -

another nice effort from Lagunitas. lighter than the Lucky 13 (the only beer i could think of as comparison) even though it's a little sticky and either hoppier or just fresher than the 13 (which is entirely possible). spice, caramel and fresh hop aroma and flavor.
