The Black Church is a gothic style cathedral built by the German community of the city of Kruhnen in 1383 and completed in 1477. In 1689 the structure was partially destroyed in a great fire during the Great Turkish War. Afterwards, it became known as the Black Church because its stone walls had been darkened by the fire.

    Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 7

Pours an average size frothy brownish head. Has a pretty pitch black appearance. Weak lacing. Aromas of earthy and herbal hops, malty notes like toffee and toast. Faint spices as well. Flavours of toasted and bready malts, slight sweetness, a bit of toffee. Some resin and earthy hops. A little bit of smokiness in the finish. Sort of a wet mouthfeel. Pretty good one.
