The beer pours a solid black colour with a generous creamymy chocolate milk coloured head. The aroma is roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, and a hint of vanilla. It says barrel aged on the can, but I can’t detect any in the aroma. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation, a bit disappointed it isn’t creamy and more full bodied. The barrel aging can be tasted in the flavour as there is definitely some wood notes on the tongue, very dry wood notes. Not as much coffee in the flavour as the aroma. A decent effort by a small brewer.
