Staff pick #4 was chosen by Meg Brennan, who grew up in Nova Scotia across the street from the Dartmouth Common. Dampfbier (German for steam beer), is a now rare, centuries-old style, and was traditionally known as the beer for the common folk. Brewed with German weizen yeast, this all malt brew has hints of clove and a mild hop finish.

On tap at Arrow and Loon. Pours a huge foamy white head and has a clear golden appearance. Quite thick dirty lacing. Aromas of grainy malts, a bit perfumy. Flavours have a little bit of fruity notes at first but more grainy malt and grassy hops afterwards. Medium carbonation. Pretty refreshing.

Sampled at Brother's Beer Bistro. Pours a clean golden-amber colour with an off-white head and light creamy lacing. Light grainy aromas. Nice grain taste, seems like rye, with mild hops that are well-blended, adding a smooth bitterness. Lingering with grass and hints of cloves. A nice refreshing California Common.
