I liked this much better than I thought I would; interestingly complex rather than assertive. The body is a hazy amber and the head is tan and slight. Aroma of lightly-caramelized malt and a variety of reserved well-blended spices; not one stands out but there are hints of nutmeg, clove, cinnamon, and orange peel. The flavor is very fresh with clean grain and the same spices as the nose but richer, with a delightful additional taste that I couldn't quite place, like fennel or anise, but mild -- maybe just the allspice combination? Warm and rich, spicy finish.
