One pint of this at JT's was more then enough. A very rich style of beer. Pours a cloudy yellow colour with an enormous white head. Very well carbonated. Aroma is sour, very yeasty with various noticeable fermented fruits and lemon. Taste is creamy with equally sour flavors. Citrus fruit and lemonheads.

Almost 10 years since I had my last Berliner Weisse, in Berlin, and I've now sampled two Wisconsin versions of this seldom-seen style in successive days. Rich Becker's iteration is simpler than that of New Glarus, maybe not as true to style but yet refreshingly drinkable. Pours from the tap a very cloudy golden yellow with an immense bubbly white head. The head remains frothy for quite some time before fading. Aroma is light and yeasty with lemon notes. Mouthfeel is thin and carbonic. Tastes are subtle and properly sour. While the New Glarus brew revealed some of its white wine character as it warmed, the JT version taste fades and thins. Rich promises more character development as this one ages a little but it's hard to believe something can be created out of nothing - but, I'll be sure to try it again and again, while it lasts.
