Pours out a 100% black hole with no head. The aroma is of heavy dark fruit. The mouthfeel is extremely thick. The taste is high in Ibu but very well balanced. This is is a very interesting brew. I will sample this one agin.

Tar like pour and color on pour. Disappointingly, a small light brown soapy head rises oh so disappointingly. No lacing. The profile on this one is burnt, burnt roasted malt. There's some bittering chocolate added in the tasting. Some alcohol bite. Full bodied and creamy textured.

the last of the line-up of 5 Joseph James beers we sampled last night. Due to the style, I still held out a little hope, even though the other 4 beers were not worth a darn. Poured like a stout, but not an imperial, in color. Had some chocolate and smoke aspects in the nose and flavor, but way too subtle for a RIS. Not horrible, just not good enough. Average beer. Crappy Russian Imperial.
