As the story continues in the Unshackled series of beers, The Heat began as a hoppier pale wheat beer. We loved it but felt as though it needed a hint of something to drive it further. The brewers at JailHouse love hot and spicy so Habañero was mentioned, and the next thing you know they’re chopping peppers. The mango is part of the balancing act for a beer like this, for a sweet heat that is present but enjoyable.

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8
Taps slightly hazy amber with a decent eggshell head. Aroma presents woody, wheaty and tropical fruit notes - and just a hint of pepper. Flavor delivers woody hops, fresh wheat, tropical fruit, and firm but not fierce pepper character. This won’t turn your mouth into a set from "The Towering Inferno." Mouthfeel offers good body, lively fizz, and a mildly peppery finish. Can you take the heat?
