Strong, malty aroma has an earthy overtone and firm hints of cloves and caramel. Pours a clear warm sepia with a fizzy and none too persistent tan head. Rich flavor fills the mouth with malty, earthy and nutty notes plus hints of chocolate, caramel and cloves. Texture has good body, but fizz leaves something to be desired. This, however, is the beer’s only weak spot. Overall, an arresting doppelbock.
