The Vanishing Point is something in the distance, something always slightly beyond reach. We name our annual Imperial Stout Release this to reflect our unrelenting mission to push on the boundaries of everything we thought possible, to always keep progressing. To be pioneering in our brewing and maturation craft and to never rest on our laurels. This range is our apex; the point at which the skills and passion of our brewers converge with our ambitions to create exceptional beers that define us as a company. Every ingredient is hand selected, the absolute best we can get, and chosen with only one thing in mind; flavour. Every year when we come to brew and mature it we build on what we’ve done before, always refining, always progressing what this beer delivers. Vanishing Point 05 is an 11% Imperial stout matured in hand-selected 15 Year Old Speyside Single Malt Whisky Casks for 365 days. Dark chocolate, charred oak, vanilla and ripe fruit flavours combine with a heady malted whisky character, which has been refined and mellowed through over 8,000 hours in cask. Deep, dense and dark with a foam to match, this is truly a beer to savour.

Celebrating my 50th I&G review, with this reversing number - 05. Dark brown colour with ruby highlights, a light mocha-coloured frothy head, decent stay and some light creamy lacing. Aromas of roasted malt base, with some maple notes, whiskey alcohol, molasses and hints of chocolate malts. The taste shows some light sweetness, but not too thick, syrupy and with a nice dryer finish. A little warming with the darker malts. Coffee does come out in the nose eventually. Nicely brewed with a tad whiskey in the flavours as well. Good once a year.
