This is our flagship beer, the one whose discovery led to the formation of the company back in 2003. Since then we've won a string of awards for Original, most recently a third consecutive Modern Monde Selection gold award. Like the world's great wine and whisky makers we strive for depth of flavour, complexity and mellowness in every beer we produce. Innis & Gunn Original typifies this approach. Its lengthy 77-day maturation imparts flavours of toffee, vanilla and oak that perfectly complement the beer's backbone of luscious malt and fruity hop notes. The oak helps to give Innis & Gunn Original its appealing colour and also mellow the alcohol character, so although the beer is 6.6%, it's very smooth and easy to drink.

I was saving this baby for Christmas supper... and I was not let down.. a great sipping beer with tastes of honey and oat... one of the best I've ever tried.

Nice darkish golden colour with quickly disappearing white head. Aroma is almost non-existent with some very distant hints to fruits. Taste is strangely sweet and has lots of alcohol coming through. After-taste really has some oak in there but it reminds me more of a bad moonshine than beer. Really bad.

Pours a thin foamy white head. Has a rusty light amber appearance, quite clear. Thick lacing. Aromas of caramel malts and subtle oak notes. Also raisins, dark fruits and mild spices. Flavours are strong caramel malts, resin and spice hops. Oak comes through in the finish. Also some toasty and toffee malt notes with hints of vanilla. Medium bodied mouthfeel. Has a slick and drying sensation on the palate. Pretty good and aged in oak wood barrels really does come through. Very good stuff!

had a massive large head, which slowly dissipated into a golden amber with a thin head. The aroma was disappointed and unsurprised to get a nose full of skunk on the initial whiff. Agitating the beer helped to stir some of the volatiles, hints of caramel malt, alcohol, vanilla and wood. The taste was very sweet and malty without being cloying, little hop bitterness, vanilla cream soda and woody notes. Alcohol is present and slightly warming. The mouth feel is creamy and light bodied.

Clear copper color with no foam. Aroma is nice barley, taste is deep bitter beer. Nice lasting aftertaste. Perfect with hamburger served. (Farstanäs 201307)

Clear copper~amber body with good lacing and a thin off white head. Medium to light bodied and sweet. A tad earthy with a malt base consisting mostly of toffee, vanilla, and caramelized sugar.

On tap @ Knoxville BrewFest 2012. Medium amber pour, ample head and lacing. Caramel malt and very light oaken aroma, very light vanilla, earthy hops. Taste is lighter than the Independence Day Ale but still nicely balanced. Smooth, caramel malts, light earthy hops with a very light bitter linger, some fruits but very light. Tasty.

Lemony beer with medium Bodied. Not much to suggest oak. I guess a honey an wood type aroma. Pretty mediocre in fact not much of a beer. Te worst of the Gunns I think

interesting brew...didn't even know what style it would fit in til just now. aroma a little hot for <7%, but pleasant notes of vanilla and oak, with mild hopping. Flavor is much the same with some toffee as well, and without the alcohol.

A bright amber colored beer with a big fluffy textured white head rising above. There good hang time on this one. It settles into a medium ringlet. Whiskey oak in the nose and in the taste. Nice aged smoothness.
