Innis & Gunn are delighted to present this stunning Cask Strength edition Oak Aged Beer. During the uncommonly lengthy maturation in the finest oak barrels, every precious drop of Innis & Gunn undergoes a unique alchemy which transforms the liquid stored within. The resulting beer is always mellow and complex, with each individual barrel displaying its own unique character and strength. Ordinary beers of this strength can be cloying or overly sweet, but the artistry of Innis & Gunn is in the blending. We have selected barrels, which when blended together achieve a harmonious ideal; a beer of singular quality, complexity and mellowness that belies its high alcohol content. It is a timeless classic beyond superlative.

If heaven had a beer named after it, the brew would be this Scottish Porter! Oak aged, chocolate, molasses, malt and I'm tasting a little bit of vanilla and fruity apple. The after joy tasted like a burnt marshmallow (a good thing!) Comes in a beautifully shaped crystal clear bottle with a regal burgundy and gold foiled label. This was a delicious delight! P.S. Bottle, at RBESG 2007 in Glasgow, Grand Tasting. Deep amber colour, moderate head. Woody / oaky aroma, but not very strong. The flavour is fairly sweet and woody.

smell is wonderful- vanilla, oak, sherry. taste equals the smell, the subtleness of vanilla and sherry present but not overpowering. beer characteristics don't shine here- the undertones seem to be the flavors that are presented (again, not overpowering though.) Nice sipping beer, very mellow, almost like sipping a cognac. high alcohol is hidden. mouthfeel is pretty light.

Bottle from Shipley Asda. Dark copper to chestnut coloured with a slim, just off-white head. Great complex aroma, thats making me salivate; sherry and vanilla hit you first, then whiskey and malts. Taste: I’d have to agree with the commercial description, pretty damned stunning; same elements as in the aroma but the whiskey is accentuated. Medium to full bodied, lightly carbonated, with a warming finish. Excellent.
