Check raise, a despised strategy among poker players, is an attempt to lure your opponent in by pretending to be weak until called. In a similar vein, our Check Raise starts off as an innocent, everyday stout until a few sips in and the realization that there is more to this beer than originally though. Flavors of coffee with hints of pine and citrus emerge from the bittersweet chocolate and roasted barley background. But it doesn’t stop there, beneath the surface flavors of bread crust and toffee tease the palate as the beer warms in the glass.
