The flavors are so big in this Imperial Stout, they barely fit in the bottle. The wallop of chocolate, black currents & coffee makes this one phat beer. Named for the large amount of hops in the recipe, this fat beer will make you jolly with each sip.

Ebony blackness in colored with a big brown frothy textured head rising above. There's good hang time on the head. A persistent cap and thick ringlet. Lots of roasted chocolate malt in the total profile. Thick and smooth.

Kinda week and one dimensional for the style, though as a beer, probably there best I've had to date...just can't think of the lightish sweet brew as an imperial.

Sampled on 2/5/2011. This Imperial Stout pours an eclipse black color from a 50cl bottle. Small to medium sized tan foamy head, with decent retention. The aroma is chocolate and sweet. A medium to lighter bodied Imperial stout. The malts are chocolate and sweet, not a lot of coffee or roasted malts. The hops are herbal and earthy. Decent carbonation. If someone handed me this beer and asked me what style I thought it was Imperial Stout would have been my 4th choice. Porter, oatmeal stout and sweet stout would have been my 1st three choices. There iss none of that roasted malt or coffee flavor I would expect in an Imperial stout. Hides the 8% alcohol well. Nice sipping beer. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.
