Tafelbully is a Belgian-inspired table beer based on a recipe from our friend Matt Staley. Tafelbully is the bully of the other table beers, pushing them around with its citrusy dry hopping, Belgian yeast spiciness, and a refreshing Brettanomyces finish. Even though it is a bit bolder than most, this is still a session beer. It features a delicate malt character from the European pilsner and specialty malts and judicious dry hopping with citrusy Sorachi and Amarillo to compliment the gentle fruitiness and delicate phenols of the Belgian and Brettanomyces yeasts.

A golden colored beer with not much of a head.. What is there settles far too quickly. A thin ringlet is left. Yeasty funkiness in the nose. Some more of that in the tasting with a light citric note. Light, clean and crisp. Not bad.

Sampled at Beer Revolution on 8/20/2011. This Belgian Ale pours a light gold color from the tap. Medium to large sized white foamy head. The aroma is fruity, yeasty and citrusy. A medium bodied Belgian Ale. The malts are fruity, yeasty and sweet. The hops are grapefruity. Decent carbonation. Touch of yeast, some funk and a touch of banana. Interesting beer. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean an smooth. Aftertaste is sweet.
