Teaming up with Terrapin Beer Co. for the fourth time, Shmaltz Brewing returns with Reunion ’14. For 2014, Reunion was exclusively brewed at Shmaltz in Upstate, NY with Terrapin Brewmaster "Spike" Buckowski traveling from Georgia to NY to help brew the latest collaboration. Each year, we brew Reunion in memory of our dear friend - Virginia MacLean. Virginia lost her battle with Multiple Myeloma in 2007. It was her wish that we continue to raise funds and awareness on behalf of The Institute for Myeloma & Bone Cancer Research. www.imbcr.org Ale brewed with cinnamon and with cocoa nibs, coffee, coconut, and natural flavors added.

    Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7

Comes out of the tap opaque coffee brown with a thin buff head. Smoky aroma has notes of roast malt and hot pepper. Flavor is mainly roast malt and pepper, fairly hot but not fierce - I am not a big fan of hot-pepper beers. Hints of coconut and mocha do manage to peep through. Texture is smooth, rather lively, not too heavy. Drink up for a good cause.
