I've had this several times, from both off the tap at the brewpub in the northern Seattle, and whenever I brought back a bottle or two to San Diego. Each everytime, I've enjoyed this decidedly PacNW ESB.
Burnt reddish glow beneath a thin layer of pure angelic white foam; belgian lace is plentiful, too. A solid hoppy Golding aroma, that doesn't do justice to the dry firmness in the very first sip. The malt says Pacific North-West, but the hops are surely more Continental than Centennial (if you pardon the play on words). Either way, this ESB speaks softly, but carries a big stick, and is one beer that I plan on purchasing again in the future.
Remember when Redhook had a soul, and it's ESB had character? Those days are long-gone, but it's beers like Hale's Moss Bay Extra that carry the torch of quality PacNW bitters.

Medium brown color, medium head. Highly hopped. Medium malts. Nice hop flavor, good ale taste. Lots of flavor. Finish is clean. Aftertaste is slightly bitter, nicely malty.
