Pours a hazy, opaque honey-golden. Strong, fruity aroma has a woody undertone. Rich flavor has an overtone of sour apple plus notes of pear, honey and malt. Texture is quite smooth and delightful.

What a wonderful beer, not oversour at all, perfectly well balanced and made for beer drinkers. Brandy barrel aged cherry Fred was life changing, you should go here, put it on the list!

On tap @ Hair of the Dog; fitting tribute to Michael Jackson, the Beer Hunter. Ruby brown pour, nice head and lacing. Good carbonation. Sour tart aroma and initial taste, fruity, lightly funky, nice malt presence, zesty and very flavorful. Thank you PfoxyJohn for sharing.

A wonderful soft, fruity sour. 2012 bottle smells of oak, funk and leather. Quite wine like in the flavor, and a nice balance between sweet, sour, tannic...just good stuff.

What I'm reviewing here is a two year old bottle from 2009 that was served to me at the Hair of the Dog Tasting Room, so I know it was stored properly. The beer started fizzing up as soon as the cap was removed. They let me pour it myself. A little hazy with a pinkish, perfect size head that never subdued because of the constant fizzing. Reddish brown color. Sour aroma of cherry, apple, and a caramel and candi sugar sweetness. Medium body and finishes with a bit of a roasty dryness. Has a nice cherry tartness. Easy to drink, and though not the best I've had of this style, Mr. Jackson would have enjoyed it.

Bottle from brewolf. Thanks Michael! Pours a murky reddish-brown color with no head. A vigorous pour doesn’t generate much either. The aroma shows cherries, oak, vinegar, red wine, currants. This isn’t overly sour tasting and drinks a little thin. Flavor is decent but seems a little dull or at the very least not as complex as I thought it would be or the aroma had me thinking. Ripe fruits; cherries, grapes and plums. Some spice, old barn, and barrel notes with a little alcohol in the finish. I enjoyed this but it was a big want for me so I guess it’s safe to say this was a bit of a disappointment.

Put on wishlist on 4/1/2010, and how do like that? drank only ten days later!.. Pours a light ruby, with a medium fizzed-out white foam, good lacing too .. . quite effervescent for a sour, calms down after about 20 minutes .. . quite a spunky brew, interesting meld of flavours- light light cherry, sandbox, cherry stem, and mild tartness .. . one of the more unique sours I've ever had; an enigma.. . How much deeper would the ocean be if sponges didn't live there?

A nice sour ale that commemorates a great man. A cloudy reddish-brown beer with a this tan head that lasts. Aroma is sour malts, tart cherries, and a hint of oak. The flavour is tart, and not all that fruity. An interesting take on the style.
