Traditional farmhouse perry medium. Best served chilled. Pour slowly to avoid disturbing the natural sediment. Matured in oak barrels with natural yeasts. Ingredients: Pear juice, natural sugars, sulphur (trace). The Blakeney Red pear takes its name from the parish of Blakeney on the outskirts of the Forest of Dene, Gloucestershire, where it still grows today. The tress grow tall and fruit late in October, November. Despite being harvested by shaking the fruit to the ground with long poles, it keeps well and can be stored until required. Years ago it was known for its quality as a dessert pear. The juice can be used for blending or as a single variety, which produces a medium sweet full bodied perry.

500 ml clear bottle, courtesy of Cardinal pub, Stavanger. ABV is 7.5%. Cloudy yellowish grey to golden colour with a reddish hue. Fizzy head disappears instantly. Moderate carbonation in the glass. Lovely aroma of pears and oak, notes of fruit vinegar and farmhouse kitchen. The flavour is medium sweet, pears galore, oaky notes, hints of sulphur, slightly astringent finish. Not bad.
