A beautiful tasting beer that I had on tap while visiting Gruut not too long ago. All of the beers here are brewed without hops which was very new to me. Pours a semi clear amber with a off white head. Aroma is pleasant, almost sweet. Taste is crisp, not biscuity but fairly malted with a rosemary like finish.

330 ml capped bottle. Poured in the original Gruut designed glass a slight hazy mahogany or ruby-brown coloured ale with a generous one finger beige creamy head that had a very long retention and tons of micro bubbles. Mid-sized carbonation. Good lacing. The aroma is moderate toasted malts, caramel, dark fruits, notes of ... soap (!). The flavour is heavy malts, yeast, caramel, brown sugar, dark fruits, raisins, prunes, a point of spices, pepper and a touch of herbal hops. The mouthfeel is creamy and sweety. This medium bodied ale has a dry sweety malts finsih. I expected more from this Begian ale.
