Great appearance to start but like the Double stout the head dissipates too quickly and the aroma is a bit weak. Enough belly aching, the flavour is excellent. Roasted malt, strong coffee, dark chocolate, cocoa, vanilla, wood, smoke. The chilies give it just the right amount of spice and pepper for me. Mild earthy aftertaste. Medium sticky mouthfeel. Never really been into spicy beer but the peppers and alcohol seem to be the perfect match in this one.

    5oz taster -

On tap at 10 East. I was pretty excited to try this, as I really enjoy the standard version of Double Stout. I love beer that incorporate chili peppers in them so this should be exceptional! It was good, but the chili pepper character in the aroma was non-existant and the character in the beer was extremely restrained, like a chili pepper stout for babies. The greatness of the base beer was lessened with this addition.

Really like the base, like serranos, so pretty excited here. What lacked in aroma did not in flavor. Intense pepper without covering the base beer or being TOO hot. Thick black pour and body. Heavily roasted with some twang. Loved the combo.
