Our American-style Barleywine undergoes a three hour boil to intensify the caramel malts and the enormous Pacific Northwest hop charge. The result is a rich, estery brew with toffee notes and citrus hop flavors layered throughout. Enjoy this brew fresh today or lay it down for aging to see how the flavors of each vintage evolve. Looks splendid poured into a snifter. Clear mahogany colour with a foamy tan head. Would have give it 9 for appearance if the head would have stuck around a little longer. Decent lacing. Aroma is fruity and pine. Flavour has burnt caramel malts, fruity, piney, orange and spice. Medium /full mouthfeel and slick. Base flavour tastes very much like their Palate Wrecker.

Pungent, skunky hop aromas Pine sap, grapefruit and flowers, the malts are sweet but barley noticeable. Deep burnt copper body with a few floaters, head settes to a thin cap leaves some decent lace. Mouthfeel is a bit on the thin side, but i like it. Flavors start out pine and grapefruit with the nice malt backbone holding them up, bitter long finish, a bit of booze at the end. Overall a very enjoyable barleywine.

This poured an amber color with a beige head. Aroma contains some citrus, caramel, dark fruit. The flavor is rather bitter with some citrus, caramel, and dark fruit. This is like a hoppy IPA with a ton of malt but I dig it anyway. Overall a nice beer.

A dark, deep mahogany colored beer with a miderately sized light beige head. There's some retention. Settles into light sticky film and medium sized ringlet. Light caramel nose. Same burnt caramel and lighter grapefruit hops. Medium bodied.

Vintage 2011, sipped on a nice oHIo Autumn evening. Slinky mahogany body with a 1/4" swampy, tan head and splotchy lacing. Toffee and burnt caramel with a firm bitterness and fruity hop presence. Rich depth of warming soothing layers. Plenty of malt with notes of licorice, brown sugar, bread and ripe fruits. A traditional American style Barleywine and very akin to Bigfoot with less than a year of age on it.

2011 vintage. quite dark in colour. slight tinge of red. quite fragrant, plums, berries and green hops. Very sweet, lots of berries, raspberry specifically.not as syruppy of a mouthfeel as expected but still very full. something of a soapyness gracing my beard. super smooth. something slightly forest about it that discounts it from being my favorite of the barley wines. Hoppy which I like. Still so many berries and maybe a touch of banana. Obvious toffee I suppose but in a flavour not a texture way for sure. Second most disorganized review ever.

From Central City. Poured an active, ivory-coloured rocky head over a rich looking, clear and dark amber body. Aroma was grand, a wonderful combination of hop and malt. The flavour was this as well, along with some caramel notes. Pretty good mouthfeel and not too sweet to finish.

22 oz bottle. Bottle #1609 of 6000. Very dark amber read color. Medium sized tan foamy head. Strong long lasting lacing. Aroma is dark fruit, dark malt and sweet. A medium bodied Barley wine. Malts are fruity, caramel and sweet. Hops are grapefruit and piney. Nice balance. A maltier barley wine. The 10% alcohol is only slightly noticeable. Nice sipping beer. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

My first attempt at a Barelywine and I was happy with the outcome. Poured a medium copper/brown color with a light foamy head. A mild sweetness inner twined with the malty and a hint of the hops.

pours a touch on the darker side for a barleywine, fairly balanced aroma and flavor skewed a little towards the sweet caramel malt and toffee (surprising given their rep for hoppy beers). Theres more hops in the nose than the flavor. This was the newest batch but tasted as if it had a year or so of age on it. Nice warming finish, and complex. Very good, but not one of the best.
