1st beer poured in my new Unibroue glass - so far so good.
1/3 of the glass is filled with a thick creamy brown cap that once settled leaves a massive amount of ropy lacing. Brew is very very dark brown with dark red hues near bright light. The aroma is pretty plain and lacking strength which isn't always bad but this is a bit too light. Mild chocolate & boiled vegetables and some mild form of hops - doesn't sound that good, does it? It's ok. The taste is where this excels. Chocolate, nicely and very well proportioned roasted malts, non-sweet cherry or black berry candy (background), good bitterness that is very bitter but not in any dominating quantities (almost an after thought). Great balance or at the very least a good smooth transition of flavours in large steps down in power. Smooth, very nice carbonation, seems to have a bit more body than a standard porter would. The finish could be a bit better but it is still nice. Another surprisingly good beer out of the Montana mystery 6 pack from my fat ugly German bro.
