Despite its name, our Sugar River Extra Special Bitter is neither too sweet nor too bitter. Rather, in classic British ESB fashion, it is the perfect marriage of malt and hops: The light caramel-malt sweetness just balances the delicate yet noticeable hop flavor and aroma. Sampled on draught at the Fitchburg location: Pours a dark but clear amber colour with a fairly large white head. Aroma is nutty, with soft malt and hop notes throughout. Slightly yeasty, with noticeable caramel, apples, and hop flavors.
