Clear amber orange off-white lacing foam head. Strong aroma, barley, leather, grass, some toast. Taste good, strong beer taste, again little grass, some cereal tones. (Velp 201408)

Pours very hazy/cloudy reddish brown color with a 2 finger khaki head. Thick and full bodied with a nice fruity mixture of aromas. Tastes of raisin, apricot, cherry, pear, apple, caramel, toffee.

Light, grainy and fruity upfront. Nuts, berries, biscuits, bread and then chocolate all come through in that order as the beer progresses. Complex yet fairly easy going. Dry and sweet at the same time....very mellow beer. Huge frothy head above a clear amber brown body.

Aromas of molasses and caramelized brown sugars dominate here, along with vanilla, wet wheat, and chocolate malts.Flavor has hints of date, raisin, and wood-grain alcohol, molasses, caramel, brown sugar, and port wine. The brew is quite carbonated--medium-heavy--and the fizziness unfortunately seems to shorten the length of the malty aftertaste. Mouthfeel medium-light. Overall i drank this one a bit on the warm side, still pretty nice though.

Sampled from bottle. Pours copper-red with a thick, creamy head and remarkable lacing. Soft, sweet malt aroma. Balanced with tart apple/pear-like fruit notes. Medium-full body and so smooth that it makes me believe that I overuse the term "smooth" in my reviews. Drink it if you can find it.

Bottled at Monk’s Café, Stockholm. Pours out in a clear reddish brown colour with lively large white foam. Dryish aroma of nuts, yeast, immature red berries, wood, honey and herbs. medium-bodied with notes of toasted malts, yeast, berries, wood, grass, nut-shells and anise. long dryish and yeasty finish with touches of red berries, spices and bread. Nice one, intriguing and well-balanced.

Bottle: Hazed copper-amber ale with a great cap that laces. Aromas are malty, sweet, yeasty...wisp of alcohol. Sweet caramel maltiness, some wood, smoke, tobacco, earthy dried fruit tones...nice subtle complexity...finishes wet and with a lash of licorice from the alcohol. Nice little strong ale for a French brewer.

Nice bottle - a miniature of the large 3 Monts bottle. Dark, reddish amber; poured a big souffle head, off white, nice lace A complexity of rich malt, and an initial salt air/off/gamey note. Faint hop fruitiness warms to red wine-like berriness. Earthy, almost raw mushroom like. Hint of briney shellfish. Spirit / brandy. Musty, subtle fruit, malts, honeycomb. Fairly bitter. Thin bodied, slightly astringent, winey. Closest beer I've tasted that comes anywhere near Orval. Complexity of un-beer-like aromas & flavours makes this quite intriguing.

a good lookin rusty orange color, a pillowy head sticky & soft. Aroma has some toasty wheat smell and a light fruity caramel aroma. Mouthfeel is soft and sensuous though i wish it were a little heavier. Flavor is nice though a little bland it seemed in the end unfortunately. Still very fresh taste with Delicate notes of apricot, red bell peppers, touch of fruity tartness though far from sour. Fresh n' fruity, a light and mellow nature
