Every year since 1997, we’ve picked out the year’s finest hops and malts to make a special Vintage Ale. In 2016, alongside classic British hops, we elected to use the aromatic Nelson Sauvin variety from New Zealand - and it instantly makes its presence felt alongside the warming alcohols and rich malt character long associated with the series. The result is a smooth, rich, and deliciously different Vintage Ale - a successful union of home-grown and far-flung ingredients. A bottle-conditioned beer, Vintage Ale 2016 continues to mature right up until it’s opened. When the time comes, expect a deep amber pour with notes of sherry and Cognac on the nose, and rich, complex flavours that hint at toasted grains and sweet cherry Bakewell Tart.

Clear copper colour pour. Small bubbly white head doesn't stick around too long. Dried fruit and oak aroma. Warm caramel malt flavour with dark fruits, oak, herbal and earthy hops. Medium ? full mouthfeel with some alcohol warmth.
