The king of stouts, aged for almost six months in Jack Daniel's bourbon barrels, this velvety, rich, and roasty brew is ideal for the cold nights ahead. Clocking in at 10.2% ABV, Weendigo is warming, but not harsh- the whisky and oak flavours compliment the luscious roasted malt character, providing incredible complexity. This beer is bottle-conditioned and ready for a prime spot in your cellar for aging.

Appearance is good to start but fades way too quickly. It has a ringlet for a head and no lacing. Can definitely taste the bourbon barrel ageing. Red wine flavour too. Lesser flavours of oak, chocolate, coffee and quite sweet. Sour chocolate cherry aroma. Medium mouthfeel with alcohol warmth. I think this might be better after it has aged a while.

2014 edition - brown bottle with silver-grey wax over the tip. Pours a real dark brown colour with very little red highlights. The mocha-coloured head starts off big, but fizzy, so disappears fast enough leaving minimal lacing. Sweet aromas of dark fruits with some cocoa notes, apples and mild alcohol. The taste is quite sweet but with some nice bitterness in the finish to balanced things. Roasted malts, a little syrupy, with some coffee, grass, hints of chocolate and the vanilla-coconut from the bourbon barrels. Alcohol is showing again, but an overall good sipper. Thankfully this is not a 750ml bottle, as would be a little too sweet to have that much.

500ml bottle. Pours a huge frothy brownish head and has a deep dark black appearance. Fairly thick lacing. Aromas are chocolate, coffee, nuts. Flavours are quite sweet with strong notes of coffee, chocolate, raisin, some spices. Medium sweetness and bitterness. Full body, slick creamy mouthfeel. Astringent and slightly bitter in the finish. Quite tasty and the alcohol is well hidden, although a slight hint of alcohol appears more in the finish. The barrel aged aspect is fairly noticeable.

The beer poured a dark brown with black hints, and a thin brown head. The aroma was sweet malt, chocolate, and coffee. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour was strong on the bourbon with hints of coffee and dark chocolate.
