Taps rich, warm sable with a thick tan head. Aroma presents rich roast malt, chocolate (loads of chocolate!) quality coffee and molasses tones plus fruity and toffee hints. Flavor is sinfully delightful - rich chocolate, roast malt, molasses, top-grade coffee, hints of toffee and fruit, both pomme and dark. Mouthfeel features viscous body and strong, persistent fizz. I’ve been chasing this for years, and at long last I have been deflowered!

Night out with Alexandria Brew Crewers and focused on dark selections. This one was truly black with a persistent dense ring. Aromas of orange peel and caramel, grapefruit and lemon, much hoppier than expected. There's lots of char, but very little cocoa. Quite hoppy and not nearly as chocolatey as advertised. I probably would have liked it more if the name wasn't so misleading, and I'm taking off points for that. Slick and heavy, the carbonation is so fine it barely registers.

I had this beer beer in Raleigh, NC on tap at The Pit - BBQ. I had 10 oz pours of the 2011 and 2013. I thought the 2013 had a better mouthfeel and the 2011 a better flavor. I think this may have had to do with the loss of carbonation over time. Regarding the flavor ... not impressed. It wasn't very chocolatey at all. This beer has been in my crosshairs for some time, and as a fan of huge chocolate stouts, I was disappointed. It was more booze and soy with hints of chocolate malt. The name does not describe what you would expect. The beer is not eponymous with it's awesome label and title. I would not seek this out again. For chocolate stouts, I recommend Rogue, Young's, and Southern Tier.

I was really hoping to like this beer, but again, it was thinner than I was hoping, not as chocolatey as I was hoping, and a little too boozy for my liking. Put those together and it's a hard beer to love.

This is a beer that I really liked, that I wanted to love. Oddly, it's only real flaw is self inflicted - not enough chocolate. I was expecting decadence, a river of chocolate. What I got was a really really nice hoppy american imperial stout with notes of chocolate, coffee, & bitterness (from the cocoa and hops). As you will see in my score, I think highly of this beer, just baffled that a beer of this name would fall short on the chocolate aspect. It was there, but not really in more amount than many impy stouts that don't have chocolate in the title.

My White Whale. The Holy Grail. Atlantis in a Bottle. It has been on my wishlist since I created a wishlist. Finally. 2011 version. Near thick mahogany black pour with a very tight tall tan head and massive lacing. Rich chocolatey and roasted malts aroma, all kinds of chocolates: Dark Cocoa Nibs, Hersheys Chocolate Syrup, Lindt Milk Chocolte Truffles... Bam - a lot of chocolate in the nose, then a touch of anise or licorce, slight but it's there, and a hint of brine - can't place it but it's like sea salt air, and a hint of smoke. Flavor is hugely Chocolate forward too, which one would expect from a beer with this name, all of the same flavors which the nose eminates, Rich, creamy, some semi-sweet, slight bitter, silky sweet - really a chocolate explosion that is most welcome, then again a very slight anise and brine which deminishes the taste only slightly in my opinion. Overall, a great beer, maybe the best brewed in the South. It is definitely one of the most hyped and for what it's worth, it lives up to the hype, not surpassing, not falling short, just right. It is Sexual Chocolate and now it is off of my wish list and I have sipped it from the Chalice of the Nectar of the Gods.

what the hell is medium on a microwave anyways? what'd I leave the door cracked? .. . Pours a dark chocolate brown, fantastic foam, good lacing.. . lots of roasty chocolate, intensely smooth and well done.. . i finally got to try it but it obviously gets that extra hype push from the name, still a great brew! .. . that wasn't part of the deal swanson!!

An excellent beer with a classic name. A black beer with brown edges and no head. Roasted malt, chocolate, cocoa, and burnt wood. The flavour is bitter cocoa with milk chocolate and a hint of alcohol. A great beer done right!

Sexual Chocolate Sampled during RBSG 7/11/2009 at the Grand Tasting. This stout pours a medium black color from the 22oz bottle. Small to medium sized tan foamy head. The aroma is chocolate and coffee. A medium bodied stout. The malts are chocolate and coffee. The hops are earthy. Slightly hoppier than most stouts. Nice balance. A nice dry finish to this beer. Good carbonation. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and dry. Aftertaste is slightly bitter and chocolaty.

YUM YUM can I say it again great beer. Pour was all black very nice chocolate head. Aroma was lots and lots of chocolate with some roastness to it. Flavor was amazing. Good chocolate and resinous hops. This beer exceeded even the high hopes I had for it.
