COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION: Dead Rise was brewed to highlight the indelible character of Old Bay through bright and refreshing citrus hop notes and a crisp tart finish. Our brewers worked with the spice experts at Old Bay for over six months to develop the recipe and craft a beer that will quickly earn its spot alongside the iconic yellow, bluee, and red tin. Pair it with tables piled high with shrimp, corn, and Maryland Blue Crab. Dead Rise was brewed to celebrate OLD BAY's 75th anniversary and proceeds benefit TRUE BLUE, a program that advocates on behalf of the Chesapeake Bay's 5,500 waterman.

Pours a near clear, yellow-hued body with a good stack of off-white foam. Moderate amount of lacing. The aroma is a lemony, citrusy hop element with the characteristic aromatic Old Bay-brand spice element are the mainstays of the aroma, leaving the light maltiness to lurk in the background. The taste has a light, very lightly creamy wheat element with a ribbon of citrus touching on lemon. Restrained bitterness. The Old Bay-brand spicy is certainly coming through, at times hitting the pepper, the paprika, the celery salt and the other ancillary earthy ground spices within. Drying finish, with some lingering celery salt and heated peppery hints. The mouthfeel is medium to light in the body with medium carbonation, fairly crisp.

A big thanks to Lantz for bringing me a 6'er of this! Being B'more born and raised, there is nothing more Maryland that crabs and Old Bay. I will tell you I had low expectations, but this beer was REALLY good. The color was almost straw and the aroma ... Old Bay. The taste was spicy/peppery and the finish was ALL .... Old Bay. I cannot wait to have this with a bushel of Maryland steamed crabs!
