Full bodied, complex, and top hat-black, Trout Stout boasts a distinctly dry roasted flavor to please the serious stout lover. Fish Brewing creates its Trout Stout using five different varieties of malt for a very complex, smooth character. The Mighty Fish Brewers begin with Carastan, Crystal, Black and Munich malts. Then, an additional portion of roasted unmalted barley enters the blend to achieve a roasted-coffee flavor. The hop profile of Trout Stout is dominated by Chinook hop bitterness. Cascade hops contributed the hop flavor and aroma, but in a subdued manner so as not to overwhelm the stout’s delicious malt profile. While Trout Stout is so satisfying that many Cascadians consider it a meal in itself, it is also an excellent accompaniment to fine foods, especially oysters and other treats from the sea. Fish Tale Ales brews Trout Stout only during Cascadia’s cooler months, from October through March each year, so be sure to catch your limit before this Trout gets away. In continued commitment to our support of endangered natural resources, a portion of the proceeds from Trout Stout is donated by Fish Brewing Company to the Washington State Council of Trout Unlimited. These funds will be set aside specifically for Bull Trout habitat enhancement

Oh wow, an organic beer......yawn. I'm all about good, simplified ingredients but I've yet to be amazed by any beer labeled orgainic. Aside from the average stout qualities, it is still a very drinkable stout. I prefer a heartier, more robust approach.

Black Color, large creamy head. Roasted malts, coffee-like flavor. Mild taste, slightly dry. Mouthfeel is a little thin for a stout, but its crisp character makes up for it. Complex and smooth. Finish is crisp and dry. Aftertaste is dry, slightly bitter.
