This massive Stout pours a mahogany black with a thick, brown head. The aroma is all chocolate roasted malt. The aroma is all chocolate and toasted malt. The first wave of flavor embraces anise and dark, bitter chocolate but opens up to include coffee, smoke and rich sweet malt.

Wish lister - Holy frikkin frik! I've liked Epic, but the only beer that's blown me away from them was Big Bad Baptist. I got this to have side by side, hoping it was the base for BBB. I think it was. Lots of similarities, though without the coffee and bourbon. Big and chewy, classic imperial stout flavors...chocolate, roasted malt and coffee, anise, big fudgy aroma. Really really good brew - didn't want the bottle to end, but we did have a BBB imediately after, so I took it rather well.

Smoky, oily aroma has notes of roast malt, semi-sweet chocolate and good coffee. It pours a deep, warm sable with a fairly thick and fine-bubbled tan head that leaves some generous lacing. Rich flavor has roast malt, chocolate, coffee and subtle hoppy notes. Firm, smooth texture is fairly fizzy, leaving a persistent smoky, slightly sweet and fairly tingly finish. Epic indeed!

22oz bottle, seen some interesting things from Epic .. . deep brown black .. good amount of foam .. . stoke wheather .. . burnt chocolate and light tar .. . pretty nice stuff, could be thicker i guess .. . . Thank you. I bear many receipts for reimbursement.

Friend of mine brought this back from his trip to the distant north. Beautiful texture...damn near perfect sensation of carbonated velvet on the tongue. Nice chocolate thread weaving through this tapestry; a solid accent flavor, but never fighting into the forefront of the experience. A hint of licorice and raspberries under the surface. A damn good Imperial stout. glad to share this with friends in the fading sunlight of the high desert winter.

Woah! Pours black black black with a decent tan head that disspates as you go. Nice lacing. Aroma is "all chocolate and toasted malt" and I cannot disagree. Mouth is full and chewy. Flavor is coffee, chocolate, licorice and is quite, quite nice. Loved this one. Have two, only 1798 left on the planet.
