This season we took a stab at our first pumpkin-schwarzbier - brewed with pale, munich, roasted barley, and a smattering of dark malts. German Northern Brewer and Saaz hops give it a little edge, while 90 lbs of pumpkin entrails, cinnamon, and ginger smooth over the crime scene.

Pours opaque dark chocolate with a thick and persistent tan head. Aroma yields pumpkin, cloves, a little cinnamon, and a hint of roast malt. Flavor is bolder than the aroma, filling the mouth with woody, spice, pumpkin, roast malt and earthy tones - a perfect beer for Halloween. Texture delivers fair, smooth body and peppy fizz.
