Sampled on 1/1/2011. This Kolsch pours a medium orange gold color from a 12oz bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head, with decent retention and nice lacing. The aroma is fruity and sweet with a touch of honey. A medium to light bodied Kolsch. The malts are fruity and sweet. The hops are herbal and slightly spicy. Decent carbonation. A good Kolsch, not a lot of flavor and wish it had a touch more carbonation. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

This tall Pom tea glass put to good use as a Kolsch glass. Labeled as a Golden ale, its still fits in the Kolsch style and pretty good these guys know their german.............. pours with a gassy head, the aroma is really nice, subtle fragrances of watermelon/fruit candy, butternut, wheat and stuff..... Taste has got some mild honey sweetness and a good taste of grains, thats about it. It tastes good. feels good..... Light to medium bodied with a nice round finish

From a bottle, new arrival at John’s in Iowa City. A thin eggshell white head covers the medium gold colored body. There is some earthy musk type cologne along with pears in the aroma. The taste is light sweet potatoes with some hints of whole grain bread. The finish is lightly tart with some cherries. A decent brew.

Bottle: "Brazilian Golden Ale (Dourada)": Pulled this one out of the fridge while working outside, thinking "Golden Ale," this ought to be nice. Well, it was nice, but it was more than I was looking for on this warm 80+ degree day of Spring. In any event, this came off like an imperial pilsner with a touch of Belgian spicing in lieu of the Saaz. Pils type malts were the most detectable item (honey, some sulfur-like notes), perhaps some wheat also present (aroma and flavor), along with a light bit of fruity berry esters (no, that's not typical of a pilsner, but they were rather light, we're not talking fruit-beer like). The appearance was far from impressive for a Belgian Strong, but the mouthfeel wasn't bad, fairly medium bodied and not stick stick sticky for what it was.
