Pours very hazy golden color and a straight pour rouses a beady white head which quickly evaporates. Quite a subtle floral quality to the aroma. The taste is felt on the back of the tounge and is bitter only in the absence of stimulation elsewhere. Rather flat on the palate. Aftertaste is somewhat acidic.I like the idea of recipies from the revolution-era brewers, but this ale is no more than a novelty, a nice to have tried it ale that I enjoyed well-enough, but will not seek out again. Brewers have moved on.

~ 12oz bottle, purchased in the Vienna/McLean/Tyson's Corner of VA, and sampled on a hot afternoon in San Diego, CA.
I was quite impressed with the "Horniblow's Tavern American Ale" from this same brewery, and had high hopes for this one, too. Alas, while this is a well-made beer -- no notable faults -- I don't have nearly the same affection for the Golden/Blonde Ale.
Perhaps if the alcohol on this one was toned down to somewhere in the 3.5%-4.5% range, this could win me over as something of a Session Bitter. But with the 5.4%ABV, this isn't something that I would call "highly sessionable".
And with the rather lackadaisical flavor profile, I'm not sure I'd buy this for a mid-session drinker, either. While there is nothign wrong with this beer, it's just lies a bit flat and limp in my mouth, compared to similar beers, of similar strength/gravity.
Not very "revolutionary", IMHO. An uneventful beer, that I'm glad I tried, but won't seek out in the future.

Looks like a typical pale ale but upon looking more closely I see it's unfiltered (there's all kinds of stuff floating around in the glass). Light bodied with just enough bitterness. A pleasent surprise.
