Back in 1487, a summer beer-also known as "Hefeweizen" - would run you two pfennigs (Pfennigs were kind of like quarters in Bavaria.) That was twice the price of winter beers. Why? Well, summer or "wheat" beers were so popular. Duke Albrecht had to double the price so bakers would have enough wheat for baking (Fear not we have no such plans). Ours is aromatic with hints of floral and citrus from the special hops we use. Hey, we love muffins as much as the next guy, but the bakers can get their own wheat.

pours a light golden color, with a medium sized frothy white foam that dissipates somewhat slowly, leaving no lace. The aroma is a little soapy in smell and bitter, but otherwise with a slightly lemon-like smell with hints of hops. The taste is pretty subtle taste for a wheat beer. The rye taste is there, but it’s mellowed out a bit, citrus is there, but it’s not overbearing. Slightly bitter in the aftertaste. The mouthfeel is pretty well balanced and is light to medium bodied.

A perfect beer to drink on the first day of summer! It pours a somewhat hazy solar yellow with a fairly thick, if not persistent, white head. Wheaty, yeasty aroma has a bit of a lemony undertone. Flavor is wheaty and yeasty with just a hint of lemon, not strong but still refreshing - perfect after a HOT day. Texture is fairly smooth with a subtle tingle. This is more of a party beer, or a beer to sip whilst taking in a baseball game, than one for sipping by itself - but it's still a decent summer beer.

It pours a cloudy light golden with thin white head and some lacing wrapped around. An aroma of wheat malts, hops, lemon/lime/citrus, grass, and mild spices. The mouthfeel is smooth, sensual, and rich. Flavors of wheat malts, light hops, lemon/citrus, light butterscotch, and mild spices. Mmm ... good stuff.
