"Hjul & Stejle" is an old execution method called "The Wheel" in English which was often used for blasphemers and the like. Christmas is a time ripe with beliefs and myths - yet belief in Jesus, Santa Claus and angels ought to be a thing of the past. We symbolically execute Santa Claus and the like and propose a toast in Hjul & Stejle: A beer where the clean hop bitternes and distinctive flavour of rye malt is balanced by the dry, spicy contribution from Brettanomyces at work. Hjul & Stejle is a good match for any Christmas lunch - whether you believe or not! Launched november 2009.

A murky orange colored beer with a big light bubbled sudsy textured white head rising above. There's decent hang time on the head. Settles into a nice cap/ringlet. A sour yeasty, lemon, bready nose mirrors the tasting. The lemon dances forward though in the tasting adding some tartness. Light, effervescent, refreshing.

Pours out in a hazy amber colour with a small creamy white head. Strong aroma of brett, yeast and lemon-zest with hints of dough, caramel, red currant, peat and white pepper. Weird but interesting! Medium-bodied with semi-dry notes of brett, dough, peat, lemon-zest, currant-leaves, nut-shells and orange-peels. Long semi-dry finish of brett, paint, yeast, jasmine and over-riped red grapefruits. Funny stuff!
