This classic Belgian style is all about malts and yeast. The mash requires large quantities of no less than five specialty malts, each created by the maltster for specific contributions: crisp wheat malt, munich, aromatic and biscuit malts, and lastly and importantly, unique Special B malt. This beer would not be authentic without the addition of kettle sugars during the boil, and the sparing addition of specific hops. Fermentation by a true Belgian yeast strain transforms this special wort into the masterpiece that connosiurs of Belgian styles seek out. The result is a deep ruby colored ale with complex maltiness and deep fruit notes.

    Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 9 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 9

Pours a solid brown with a nice head but very little lacing. Smells spot on for style; sweet and fruity, both apples and bananas mixed in with the malt. Taste is strong of fruits (bananas and apples, in that order) with a slight touch of citrus, most likely from the hops. Lots of caramel and some toffee. Very complex. Mouthfeel is pretty thick with lots of carbonation. Overall this is quite good and a damn good offering from a damn good brewery.
