The Citizen can be summed up as "a trip around the world in a can." We start off with our classic recipe that contains Styrian Goldings and Saaz hops, and pair that with a distinctive Belgian yeast for a taste that brings together a little bit of everywhere.

Courtesy of fata2683. The growler pours out clear deep gold with thin bright white head. The aroma has some spicy yeastiness, sugary sweet malts, a bit of grainy malts and a touch of sweet apple. The taste is very similar with tasty grainy malts and a sense of corn kernels mixing with sweet sugary malts and spicy yeast notes. It has a pretty thin body. Thanks Keith for the DC rate.

Thankfully sampled courtesy of mwiscount. Pours lemonadey-gold with an attractive haziness and small, fading head. Aroma balances grain, grass, banana and light spices. The flavor is herbal with faint vanilla against a decent grain (maybe a little wheat in there too) backbone. I appreciate the subtlety of the spice character. A nice level of bitterness lends crisp and clean to the finish. Medium bodied, perhaps a heavy hand on the carbonation, quite refreshing and hides its 7% abv well.

Hazy gold with a warm orange heart, tall dense head that dissolves very slowly into a thick cap before finally giving way to loads of lacing. Grassy, musty aroma at first with rich honey undercurrents, lemony tartness, spice... maybe something creamy like a fruity sherry. Sweet banana flavor right up front, and just the tiniest hint of pear, with some contrasting but mild citrus peel bitter not far behind. Alcoholic, but not horribly so. Personally, I wish the yeast came on stronger and more tart. Aftertaste a bit herbal and earthy. Velvety thick, heavy, and sharply tingly on the tongue.

Sampled on 10/11/12 at GABF. This Belgian Ale pours a hazy yellow gold color from the tap. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is fruity, sweet, yeasty and sweet. A medium bodied Belgian Ale. The malts are fruity and sweet, estery and yeasty. The hops are herbal. Decent carbonation. A touch yeasty and slightly sweet. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

Pours a cloudy dark golden color. Smell is mild, some fruits. Taste is the same, some fruits, a touch of spice, and a bit of malts. Feels full bodied in the mouth and overall is a quality beer.
