Founded in 1855 as Drummond, Blyth was renamed in 1877 after a wealthy landowner in Berkshire, England bought the majority of the town, sight unseen. Henry Blyth, Esq. never made the ocean voyage to visit his namesake in Canada. Absent Landlord is named after Henry. It is our expression of a Kölsch-style beer brewed with a perfect combination of old world and new world ingredients, fermented warm, and left honest. It's unfiltered and unpasteurized to let its elegant and delicious flavours stand proud.

The beer pours a translucent gold colour with a generous white head that quickly dies down to a thin film covering the beer. The aroma is grainy malt, some off-smelling acidic tones, and yeast. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, slightly creamy, and average carbonation. The flavour is grains, cereals, weak hop and yeast notes as well. Kolsch is a style style I neither love nor hate and this does nothing to change that. -

Pours a slight unfiltered golden-amber colour with a small white cap giving very nice lace. Sweet smelling at first, but then, the grainy malts take over. Maybe hints of honey to add up to sweetness. The taste starts off quickly with the grainy malts, but this hop makes things unbalanced. Really not a fan of these hops, making this the last time I have this.

473ml tallboy from LCBO. Pours an average size frothy white head but doesn't stick around very long. Has a slightly hazy golden light amber appearance. Some decent sticky lacing. Aromas of barley malts, grassy and a little bit wheaty. Flavours are somewhat on the sweet side, some notes of wheaty malts, subtle fruit hints, not overly though. Pretty good retention and a medium bodied mouthfeel. Slick and slight drying sensation on the palate.
