This golden colored ale is smooth, light in flavor, crisp and very similar to a European-style pilsner. Our Golden ale is delicately hopped with traditional pilsner style Czech Saaz hops. It is one of our most popular beers and considered our gateway beer.

Nothing special here. Clear golden pour. Foamy head. Average pilsner taste. Grain and nothing else other thpp ith a clean finish. What you see is what you get.

a pilsner masqerading as an ale? that pretty much seems to be what they were going for here. light and refreshing. maybe a little too light bodied, and the aroma is weak. Everything there is pleasant (some grassy hops and lightly sweet fruity malts), just underdone. *lost review from August 2012

This is just a beer poured a golden yellow. Pretty much standard fare good but not great. As my rating notes above. An average blonde ale. Good to sluce down fish tacos with.

I stopped by one of my local mom-n-pop liquor stores this week, in order to start hoarding the Stone Vertical Epic 04.04.04. While I struck out, I hate leaving a well-stocked beer store empty-handed. Then I saw that they had the two bottled offerings from Coronado -- their Red, and their Golden (aka their "training-wheel beer", for folks not used to drinking non-macro schwill).

As such, I pretty much knew that this beer wouldn't be all that interesting. Yeah, it has some Saaz going on here and there. And yes, it has more life than the average macro cheaper-by-the-suitcase beer.

But this reminded me of every other standard SoCal brewpub offering. That is to say, each and every brewpub between the U.S./Mexican border and, say, San Luis Obisbo has the same beer for trying to convert the macro-masses to craft beer (with indifferent results). "Golden", "Blonde", "Light", whatever, it all amounts to the same dull-ass malt bill, nuetral-to-boring hopping, and indifferent mouthfeel/drinkability. Does more of a disservice to the rest of the brewpub's offerings, IMO....

But overall, this wasn't bad. Wasn't great, but I've had worse. Maybe I can at least take the empty bottle back and get 10% off a real pint of beer or something.

Dark yellow gold color. Medium white foamy head. Aroma is malty, fruity and fairly sweet. A medium bodied golden ale. Malts are fruity and sweet. Hops are very mild, slightly bitter. Kind of sweet. Mild flavors, but there is a slight hop bite at the very finish. Light and refreshing. It is a nice golden ale; light and mild, smooth taste, slightly sweet and refreshing. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

I dunno what’s going on with this stuff but I agree with SDbruboy about this tasting sour. Other than that, not very good. Too light in body and not much flavor. A waste.
