had it at the brewpub. Not the most fantastic beer i’ve had, but I *think* this is my frist ever steam beer. had a nice copper color with some ruby highlights. Tasted much like an IPA to me, lots of hops and citrus characteristics, but, what seems to be the theme at the brewery, it was rounded out nicely and not overly bitter or astringent due to the very nice malt backbone. These guys seem to know what they’re doing.

This is easily the hoppiest California Common I’ve ever had. It’s almost like what an IPA might taste like if it were a steam beer. The copper body is clear and metallic-shiny. The head is moderate and soupy. The aroma clears the sinuses with a piney, bitter hop aroma. The flavor has a strong malt front that quickly shifts into a very bitter finish. This one is perhaps a little overbalanced by the hops, but still an exciting take on the style.
