Um...yeahhhhhhhhh. To say this has a lot going on is an understatement, but I'm not sure how else to put it. This one caught me by surprise. Part of a trade with Hannah that kept getting put in the back row...finally tried it, and soooo glad I did. I read somewhere this is buliet bourbon (kind of a cheap brand) but that could vary year to year. This was 2012 I think. If it was or wasn't, the short term barreling was done to perfection...highlighting the barrel without covering up the beer. Aroma of coffee, smoke. whiskey, malted chocolate, light hops, lots of roast. Flavor similar, smooth thick feel perfectly carbonated. REALLY liked this one. Thanks Hannah. COOP won't catch me off guard again. Maybe I'll get to try the Territorial Barleywine one day. ;)

Pours pitch black and lifeless. Smells of campfire and wet oak. Velvet mouthfeel. Taste is fantastic. Sweet wood and smoke predominate. There is some vanilla. Mellow and smooth. Finish is warming. Smoke, oak and vanilla. Please don't buy this... so there will be more for me.

I've been thinking about this beer a lot lately because I am anticipating it's return this winter. I couldn't wait; I had to pull out one of my two hoarded 2010 bottles to get me by. Pours thick black with a dense, creamy head. Impressive lacing as I drank down my goblet. Aroma boasts strong roasty notes, think espresso, vanilla, oak. Coffee, vanilla, bourbon and chocolate combine to make a rich, satisfying, special occassion stout. Creamy, full body with notable warming. Worth seeking out.

Stoked to have gotten the opportunity to try this! .. dark black, light but ever present foam bubbles .. light bourbon whiffs, tar, cigar skin, and toasty coffee .. injected with the venom, no remedy , its the virus! .. . Very smooth and balanced, the bourbon is done very well, not overdone .. . One of 40 hand waxed bottles to be released by the brewer himself, ya .. . I'm feeling crazy. ya, I said that
