Mmmmeaty. I should really lead the back of the label. When I bought this, I "just" thought I was getting a bourbon version of the very good base beer (which isn't smoke like their Vampire Slayer is). Well...glad I was wrong. Solid beer across the board. This was a big chewy monster of a stout, but not too much at 12.5%. The fudgy roasted stout, smoke, and bourbon are all prevelant and share the stage well, in the nose and on the tongue. Nicely done. 4.25.

Strong imp with good Bourbon oak notes and a slight smoked mysteriousness. Aroma is intense anise with very subtle smoke and finishes sweet vanilla. Its a bit of a thick one on the tongue but lots of rich flavors make it very enjoyable.

Pours an opaque black with a foamy dark khaki head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Foamy streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of dark roasted malt, smoked malt, campfire, and alcohol. Taste is much the same with a cocoa flavor and bourbon kick on the finish. There is a medium amount of roasty and smoky bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a very good beer with a nice smoke presence.

Do not drink this alone! Actually, my neighbor brought me over the last 1/3 of the bottle....probably cause he couldn't finish it himself! Thank you Nick. Good stuff. The bacon flavor comes from the smoked beachwood, so there is no meat in here. Blend of malts (chocolate, caramel, etc.), coffee, licorice, and bourbon is the theme going on. A bit sweeter than my preference, which I am noticing with a lot of these barrell-aged beers...but for sipping I enjoy it every now and then. Jet black appearance with dark mocha head...doesn't really get any better than this for a dark. I would recommend for sure.

Strong aroma has notes of roast malt, caramel, chocolate, molasses and licorice with a nice alcohol nip and a hint of bacon. Pours a rich sable just a whisker above black with a thick chocolaty tan head. Mouth-filling flavor has firm notes of chocolate, molasses, roasted malt and bourbon with hints of caramel and coffee. Lip-smacking! Smooth texture has good body though not a whole lot of fizz. Overall, truly outstanding. Go hog wild!
