Eagle Claw Fist utilizes the same Chico yeast that shaped Hoppy Feet and Brown Angel. Canadian Two Row, English Crystal, and a little English Black Patent malt provide a sweet, balanced backbone. Simcoe, Centennial, and Citra work together to create a unique hop assault, with an intense bitterness that manages to leave your palate in one piece and is harmonized by the flavors of tropical fruits and flowers. The finish is dry. To quote Suzanne Schalow, of Cambridge Common, “This is your best beer.” Kate Baker, her coworker, said, “I think I might be in love.” http://www.clownshoesbeer.com

Not a bad beer for an amber ale. Pour is thick and frothy. Smells of light hops and grain. Mouth feel is thick and there is a lot of taste going on here. Pretty complex grain and hop profile. A little sweet. Finis is dry. Good beer.

Aroma is strong, crisp, malty and fruity with an overtone of hops like an IPA. It pours a dark orange-brown, about halfway between coppery and mahogany, with a decent light tan head. Flavor has a strong, bitter hoppy overtone, more at an IPA than a "regular" ale, with woody and malty notes and floral and fruity hints. Firm-bodied texture is fizzy and lively, leaving a woody and hoppy finish. Let this eagle claw fist loose on your tongue!

Nice orange, pine and sweet sticky malts in the nose, a deep brown and amber body. Flavor lots of bitterness and some malts poke through, the aroma doesnt translate into the taste as much as i would like, but its still a nice brew.

First sample from Clown Shoes, and liking it so far. Advertised as an Imperial Amber, but almost like a DIPA. Very hoppy and bitter...in a good way! Medium brown appearance with off-white head....decent lacing. Flavor and mouthfeel almost a 9, but falls just short....otherwise this rating would be a few points higher. Didn't expect this to be this good, so will probably sample again just to be sure. Curious to try some of their other brews too. Finding the quality to be similar to Cigar City (my premium home-state brewer).....but priced better. Clown Shoes....funny name and laber....but I am joining the circus.

A deep amber colored beer. A small soapy textured off white head rises briefly above. It settles into a thick ringlet. The nose is dominated by piney hops. As is the tasting. Medium bodied and adequate carbonation. It turns out to be an okay ale.

Just what exactly is an 'Imperial Amber Ale'? I'm not really sure, but this particular example is quite good. It pours a slightly cloudy amber colour, with a foamy light brown cap that lasts. The aroma is citrusy hops and some weak caramel malts. The flavour is nicely balanced between the caramel sweetness and citrusy hops. Excellent beer!
