Clocktower brewmaster brewed Valentine 17 Ball Park Beer for the occasion. He wanted it to have a bubble gum flavour, but wasn’t sure if a Belgian-style beer would produce the profile he desired. So, instead, he bought a ton of Hubba Bubba gum to include in the brew. The result is a beer that carries that signature gum flavour with pride.

Pours very little head and has a pale golden appearance. Ok lacing. Aromas of grains, malts and light floral hops. Bubblegum flavour was pretty faint at first, much more graininess. After a while though, the flavour really does take over and lingers on the palate. Quite surprising. Also some notes of sweet malts and a taste a little bit of candy. Lively carbonation. Fairly light bodied. Not too bad actually.

Enjoyed over lunch with PaleAleRider at the brewpub. Pours a clear light golden colour with not much head and no lacing. Very light bubblegum extract aromas with some grainy malts. The taste also has light bubblegum at first, but gets longer and longer in the mouth, every sip. Lots of grain follows in the finish and lingers. Pretty refreshing nonetheless. Quite interesting that the bubblegum and big cereal grain goes well together.
