So, what you have here is a high gravity porter brewed with lactose and aged in whiskey barrels. It tastes like catching your favorite song on the radio with hints of the parking meter expiring, but not getting a ticket. It’s good.

Rated in 2011. 750mL pours mahogany with tan head. The aroma offers up lots of vanilla, wood, booze, a bit of earthiness and dark roasted malts. The taste is rich with loads of roasted malts, dark roasted malts, some earthiness and rich sweet tasty vanilla. Midway and into the finish the smooth sweet booziness comes to the surface with lingering swirls of vanilla goodness.

Pours a luscious opaque sable with a good tan head that leaves some pretty good lacing. Smoky coffee aroma has tones of malt, chocolate and fruit. Flavor has a good smoky overtone plus notes of coffee, caramel and bourbon and hints of wood and chocolate. Smooth, firm texture has good body and average fizz.

A near lifeless black pour with a filmy brown head and some spotty lacing. Rich and thick with a creamy smoothness from the lactose. Heavy cream on top of roasted malts, chocolate and coffee with a mellow kiss of bourbon and wood. A lot going on in this one and it works well.
