Named Cinq Cents in 75 cl (25.4 fl.oz.) bottles, this beer with its typical golden colour, its slightly hazy appearance and its fine head is especially characterised by its aroma which results from an agreeable combination of fresh hops and yeast. The beer's flavour, as sensed in the mouth, comes from the smell of hops: above all it is the fruity notes of muscat and raisins that give this beer a particularly attractive aroma. The aroma complements the touch of bitterness. There is no acidity, but an after-bitterness which melts in the mouth. This top fermented Trappist beer, refermented in the bottle, is not pasteurised.

The beer pours a hazy golden brown with a large generous whitish head. The aroma is a combination of malt, and fruits. I was expecting yeast, it was not there. The mouthfeel is medium-bodied, crisp, with high carbonation. The flavour is malty with some bready flavours.

Bottle. Colour – hazy gold, huge white head, good lacing, good effervescence. Aroma – yeast, light citrus, grains, brown sugar. Mouthfeel – medium bodied, highly carbonated, almost champagne-like. Flavour – grains, citrus, yeast, not as good as the other Chimays I’ve tried.

Cloudy appearance. Generous long lasting white head leaves blotchy lacing. Yeast and lemon aroma. Flavour is citrus, yeast and some spicy funk. Ok beer but not one of my favorite styles.

I guess I'm the beer pal that is the odd man out. I just flat dab didn't like this at all. The aroma and the appearance were both good. However I even ate a couple of almonds to change my plate but nope just didn't like the taste.

Like the other Chimay offerings, this shows up at the LCBO every once in a while, which is good because it's a treat in itself. Tripels can run the gammut of being a good stroing Belgian blonde, to a wimpy saison. This is the former. Citrus, spices and yeast are what this beer is all about!

Has a darker golden appearance, a somewhat hazy look. Lots of carbonation. Huge thick foamy head. Aromas of hops and malts. Taste is citrus, hops, some spices. Mouthfeel is yeasty, some sediments are quite visible. This is pretty good stuff, I would drink again for sure. The 8% abv is quite deceiving.

Taste is on the yeasty side, with some tartness, and slightly sweet. Some citrus notes, like lemon. Cloudy appearance, with some sediment that when mixed in, creates a smooth mellow finish.

Oak gold yellow hazy poor with nice foam head, slightly off-white. Some yeast taste, and very bitter hop. Taste is long lasting in mouth, quite high on alcohol, but that's what I like. No sweets (Velp 201202)

A more subdued belgian, in a good way, a good hop presence for the style as well. One of my favorite looking belgians in the glass, rocky white head, murky pale burnt gold color. Aroma is fairly light, again not in a bad way. Definitely a standout of the style that is dominated by too many americanized overly sweet renditions.

And again does Chimay not disappoint me. Pours out golden coloured with a nice, big, longlasting white head. Aroma has citrus, barley malts and some alcohol. Flavour is rich and complex, showing a perfect balance between sweet and bitterness. Last long in your mouth. Great one. Luckliy I still got one bottle left.

Pours a pale yellow with hazy to cloudy clarity, substantial white head that settles in 30 seconds or so. Mouth feel is creamy and flavor is hoppy with lemon citrus highlight. Expensive but once again worth at least a once in a life time experience.
