At least the bottle and label were alright, the bottle being a nicely embossed blue (and weighty!). All downhill from there, pouring a frothy tan head of rather short endurance. The body was dark, really dark, but the aroma left much to be desired. The smell and I do mean smell was a regrettable combination of malt and something else. Not encouraging as to what the taste might hold. I was not disappointed, as my mouth was assailed by a most unpleasant mixture of what might've been carob or chicory and god knows what else. The topping on this sh*t cake was the thin, watery mouthfeel. The finish was quite unbeerlike. Easily one of the worst beers I've ever been subjected to.

This dark ale pours a deep black color from a 12 oz blue glass bottle. Little to no head present. Aroma is VERY sweet, caramel, with just a touch of cardboard and vegetable. A light to medium bodied dark lager. Malts are very sweet, mostly caramel with some cola like tastes. Kind of thin and watery and then there are a lot of cardboard flavors, which intensifies as it warms. No good. Mouthfeel is thin and watery. Finish is crisp and a little harsh. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

The worst tasting beer, period, end of story. Unlimited pours on tap at the all inclusive resort, and still just a shame of a beer. Not too bad to start, and then the contaminates kick in. Loads of buttery crap and boiled celery/cabbage. Please, don't waste any time on this one.

Another weird blue-glass bottle from this brewery -- this time, a more typical 12-ozer, with the brewery logo etched into the neck. Quite heavy, too.
"Aguila Horseman" has an interesting visual look to it, package-wise.... But once I got this into a glass, things don't quite so intriguing. The lack of much head or lacing doesn't help this cerveza's case, mi amigo.
Vague old coffee aromas, with maybe some hints of some malty notes in the nose. Average, at best.
Not too bad in the flavor department, actually. Slightly sweet, with the slightly dry and crisp mouthfeel lending some much-needed weight to this beer's flavor profile. Definate chocolate notes. Vaguely bock-ish, but also reminds me of some of the lesser Baltic Porters out there.
Labeled "Dark Ale", but I'm having a hard time equating that description to what's in my mouth....
Overall, a beer that starts off rather impotent and flacid, but gathers weight and strength and character as it warms up. Not wonderful, but for a microbrewery from Mexico (there's only a small handful, you know), this is a decent enough Dark Lager IMHO...
[Edit: Actually, some research has found that this place is most likely tied to Modello. *Now* it all comes together in my mind...! ]
