I was quite pumped for this one, as nice to try a new Red Racer. And nice to try a spiced pumpkin ale. Even nicer being Imperial. What I did not see was written in small "barrel aged". Not sure they had to go this far. Hazy dark amber, with a beige head and nice topping of the brew. The nose is weird with chemical-medical notes over the pumpkin purée and some sweet dark fruits. The taste shows this weirdness as well. This is the bourbon barrel not blending well with the pumpkin brew. The rest seems decent, but wish it was not barrel aged. Bitter, bitter finish on top of that, which balances the sweetness, but not too crazy for the style. Kind of kills the spices.
