After researching brewing styles from the turn of the last century, Capital has created an outstanding, mild, American-style beer. This pilsner beer comes from an old Wisconsin recipe, circa 1900, and has a smoothness that the big beer companies will envy. Retired in 2006.

This was a great beer. It poured a nice golden color with a nice two-finger head with great lacing. It had a sweet malty aroma with a flavor to match. It went down smooth and the flavor stayed around my palate for a while.

Another nice beer from Capital-light bodied, pours a dull golden colour with plenty of malted aromas and a very soft touch of hops to give it a little more life at the end. Overall, very well balanced, but not enough excitement for me.

Here goes my last bottle of this well-brewed American pilsner; it has been officially 'retired' and will no longer be available. And what a shame... this is a good, satisfying beer. I guess it takes the likes of Wisconsin's Capital Brewery to fulfil the false claims of the American macro brewers. The crystal-clear golden color with the thick, foamy, lasting white head; the pleasantly-sweet aroma of grain; the full but not cloying mouthfeel; the fresh, smooth flavor balance between malt and hops; the refreshing tangy but not assertive finish. This is what a good American Pilsner should taste like!

A bit better then average pilsner style beer. Although the flavor is light it did well with me and I found myself wanting more. Light in color and a bit hopsy to malt ratio left me wondering for a min. but I found it not to be an issue. I would like to have more of this beer but unfortunetly my conversations with Capital's Brewmaster have found that they are discontinuing the 1900, in favor of their new Island Wheat. It will be a loss, I think it could have done better in the market if it had better advertising. Farewell 1900.

Not your typical American Pils, seems more like a cream ale in some respects, but decent stuff. Poured with very little head w/ a golden body and zero lace, light honey and floral like aroma. Tastes of saaz-ish hops light malt and wheat/honey. Pretty good stuff.

Beautiful light amber color. Nice caramel and honey aroma. Hint of wheat in the flavor. Finishes fairly smooth, but has a little bit of grainy aftertaste. Very little white head. Decent full mouth feel.

Smooth, nice color with a nice clean finish. A good pilsner, done in the American style. Mild aroma and a nice golden color with lasting lacing makes is a worthwhile experience.

The finest example of an American style pilsener ever! Pours the color of grapefruit with a thick foamy head, nice bubbles - not too much - perfect. Lacing = great. Very sweet smelling, but not too sweet, seems to strike a delicate balance. Nice full mouthfeel, flavor is quite complex for a pilsener; an initial saccharine astringency develops into piquant tang. Good stuff.

Golden color with a minimal head and some lacing. Malty aroma with a slight fruitiness, apricot. Light to medium bodied, sweet and malty flavor, citrusy with a touch of hoppiness in the short dryish finish.
